Eating Well While Traveling
I’m just back from a 24 hour trip to Arizona. Traveling alone can be exhausting. So to maintain my energy, I picked up a Total Greens with Lemon and Ginger from Earth Bar on the way to the airport. While I was waiting to board the plane, I noshed on a healthy Greek Salad (made fresh every day and loaded with cucumbers, red onion, feta cheese with a simple vinagrette) from LaBrea Bakery. Staying cleansed while traveling is a bit of an art. Here are some of the tricks I’ve learned over the years:
1. Eat a healthy snack or meal before you leave. Whether traveling by car or by plane, always be sure to have a big, dark leafy green salad before you get going. Toss it with shredded beets, carrots, red onion, tablespoon crumble of goat’s milk or feta cheese, and a simple dressing of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. When everyone else is eating bright orange and popped greasy things, you’ll be the chic and in control jet setter!
2. Pack healthy snacks. Even if it’s just a short flight from one city to another, pack a snack; you’ll be hungry when the plane lands and you’ve collected your luggage. Try packing an a apple, banana, raw almonds, walnuts, dried figs, goji berries, sugar snap peas or carrots. How jealous do you get when someone else is eating healthy and you’ve forgotten to pack a cleansing snack? Be the envy of every traveler!
3. Hit the grocery. If you run out of snacks on your drive or after your plane trip, skip the 7/11′s and head into town to look for a grocery store. Refill on the healthy staples.
4. Treat yourself! There are so many products that are great for on the road. I love these travel treats:
Ultima Powder (lemonade is my fave) is super hydrating and naturally sweet!
Justin’s nut butters or Artisana have travel friendly single serve packets (pair with apple, celery, banana)
Himalania has a five decadant goji berry mixes to choose from!

I’m not a big fan of bars, but Elemental Bars or Raw Revolution Bars are a travel must have! If you can’t get those, Kind Bars and Luna Bars are also great and easily accessible.
5. Eat restaurant smart. Check out a previous blog post on this topic HERE!
